The Reading Rowing Club boathouse has recently undergone a refurbishment, for information on what has been done. Please click here.

Our Boathouse

Completed in 1989, the current building houses three large boat bays with plentiful racking space. The upper floor holds an ergo room, weights room, male and female changing facilities, a fully fitted kitchen, function room and bar. There is additional boat racking and bike storage in a secure compound alongside the building.

Parking is usually available in the Promenade Car Park at the rear of the club.

Our Water

Reading Rowing Club is lucky to be located on one of the best rowing stretches of the River Thames. We have access to over six kilometres of rowable water running from Reading Bridge to Mapledurham Lock; for most of its length the stretch is wide enough for two boats to train side-by-side.

Our Fleet

The three bays of the boathouse and the external compound are home to a large number of boats, suitable for oarsmen and oarswomen of varying abilities and weights. There are also several coaching launches.

Some of the boats are Captain’s Permission Only, to be used by senior racing crews or experienced rowers and coxes. If in doubt, consult with your Vice-Captain or Club Captain.

Our Land Training Facilities

Our ergo room holds 16 Concept II Model D ergometers as well as a Rowperfect machine. It also has a wall length mirror, for technical fine tuning of course, and not admiring yourself…

The weights room is equipped with a variety of weights machines; free weights are also available. The adjacent function room can be used for circuits or stretching sessions.
