Fastest women’s crew at Walton
Reading’s Sally Pollok-Morris chalks up another win at Walton Small Boats Head in a double with Wycliffe’s Sarah Payne on Saturday 10th December 2011.
Walton Small Boats Head is raced over a course of approximately 3000 metres, from d’Oyly Carte Island, Weybridge, to Miskins Wharf, which is just upstream of Walton Rowing Club. This year a total of 589 crews competed, including some GB squad scullers
It was a cold sunny day at Walton on Saturday, Sally and Sarah entered their composite 2x into both Women’s Senior and Women’s Masters Category C.
The ladies won the Women’s Senior event with 3 seconds over rivals Upper Thames Rowing Club with a time of 11 minutes 59 seconds. Then went on to beat the other crews in Women’s Masters’ Category C with whole minutes over the closest rival Mosely RC and a time of 12:00.
To top of a good day’s results they also claimed fastest women’s crew on the day, 104th out of 589 crews, beating off good opposition from UTRC, Marlow and Maidenhead.
