Reading Rowing Club invites you on board.
Reading Rowing Club is giving you the opportunity get a taste of rowing by inviting you to Row for Gold.
At the end of July RRC is launching Row for Gold: The Reading Rowing Challenge, giving you the opportunity to emulate Team GB’s Olympic performance by training for four weeks and then competing for Gold against other crews on the Reading stretch of the Thames.
Our top GB stars raced over 2k on the water last year in London 2012, this is your chance to get a taste of what it’s like to compete over 500m, side by side against other crews.
The challenge is simple. You’ll be allocated an evening training slot once a week for four weeks during August, where you’ll receive coaching on how to row. On 7th September your crew will race for gold over 500m, every crew is ensured to get at least 2 races. It’ll be a great family day out with food and drink and picnic opportunities.
Whether you’re a frequent user of the rowing machine at the gym, or it’s something completely new to you; this is your chance to try the real thing. Rowing is an enjoyable and fun sport and a great way to meet new people and to keep fit.
Either enter a crew of four friends, colleagues or family members (18 years of age or older); or enter individually and we will try and allocate you to a crew.
You could be a potential Olympian for the next Games in Rio 2016 or this could be your chance to renew your New Year get-fit plans that may have slipped this summer.
Entries must be received by 26th July; the event is limited to 16 crews of 4 people and will cost only £25 per person – medals for the winning crew.
Training commences from 5th August for 4 weeks and once your crew has been accepted we will advise you of the training sessions that you have been allocated. Sessions are likely to be Monday to Thursday evenings starting from about 6.30pm.
