SATURDAY - NOTT CITY REGATTA

The women’s squad arrived early on the morning of saturday at the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham, with Nigel towing the trailer. They quickly rigged, stretched and prepared themselves for a long day of racing.

Lets review the results from the day:

  • Our Women’s 4+ started the morning with a brilliant result of coming 2nd place in their 4+ event! Only 4 seconds behind the winning crew.

  • Aurelia Dixon took on the Women’s 1x event and made an incredible performance in her race. She finished 2nd place in the final!

  • The Women’s Tier 2 8+ had their first ever 6 lane race and finished overall 4th place in their final

  • An honourable mention goes to Alice May and Rebecca O’connor in the women’s senior 2-, who raced well in the final of their event.

SUNDAY RACE - MASTER & CLUB REGATTA

The T2 men’s squad stayed over night in Nottingham and woke up to a sunny day of racing. A rower from the senior women’s squad Tsitsi also entered into the women’s 1x event.

Lets review the results from the day:

First rower to kick start the day was Tsitsi in her Women’s 1x. This was her first six lane racing and performed well by finishing overall 3rd place in the women’s 1x final!

Next up was the T2 men’s 4+. This crew was made up of fresh rowers who had only started rowing this year! However despite being their first ever racing experience, they were victorious!

Congratulations to Gui, Grant, Danila, Darryl and cox Sophie for winning their men’s 4+ event!

Last race of the day was the T2 men’s 8+. They crew had a strong race start and settled into a strong Rhythm down the 1000m course. Overall finished 2nd place in open club 8+ event!

Overall the weekend was a great experience for both the T2 men’s and Women’s squad racing at one of the most well known six lane regatta courses in the UK. Especially a great first result for new rowers this season!

Honourable mention goes to Sophie Lee for stepping in last minute to coxing the T2 men’s and helping take home a win for Reading! 

Another special mention goes to the men’s coach Andrew Rewcastle for supporting both squads during the two days in Nottingham.
